Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started working as a TV and radio reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as an general reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992. And Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell joined the panel of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She reported on a variety of interesting stories such as weapons control, the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. She also went on numerous trips with President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
